This week in Maths we have been learning about measurement. The children have been measuring in standard and non standard units. In English we have started to learn the story of ‘The Gingerbread man’. The children have been fantastic at making up actions to accompany the story and at retelling the story. We have drawn flowers in Art and Design and have been enjoying the garden centre roleplay area.
Homework this week
For homework this week I would like the children to complete the measurement worksheet. They either need to find things that are shorter and taller than themselves or find three things that are taller and shorter than a metre. For an extra challenge use a ruler to measure household objects in cm or mm.
· Talk to your child about measure and the difference between standard and non-standard units.
· Encourage your child to measure from the first line on the ruler and not the end of the ruler.
Next week in phonics we will be learning about our last split digraph u-e. Spellings next week contain two words with ‘u-e’ in. Next week we will begin learning about alternative pronucnciation in our phonics. Therefore, in next week spellings there are words which have the alternative pronunciation of ‘a’, ‘e’ and ‘i’. I have tried to set words which make it easy to spot the alternative pronunciation in.If you have questions about phonics or spellings please don’t hesistate to come and see me or email me.
