Penhaligon Newsletter 24.06.16
What a week of sport and many other exciting learning! The children have experienced football, tag rugby, dance and an assembly from local surfing professional Ben Skinner. Some have enjoyed the extra morning clubs: ‘run a mile’ and ‘wake n shake’.
The children have been as busy as ever perfecting their reading and writing. The children have read and compared the Rio de Janeiro and Notting Hill Carnivals. They have written a descriptive piece of writing for carnivals and have attempted to paint images in the readers’ heads with creative language that has included adjectives, adverbs and similes.
In maths we have revised doubling and halving and multiplying using arrays and beaded number lines. In music we have listened to and responded to samba music and have started to play some of our own. We can also name some of the instruments used- our favourite name is the ‘ agogo ’.
Spellings: Spellings are words related to our current topic and silent letters that need practice.
A reminder that home learning is due in Thursday 30 th June. Impressive efforts so far. Please see the class blog:link
