Our day programmes are either at the Chrysalis Woodland school in Dorset or on your school site. By prior arrangement, we can plan and run courses anywhere else as well for example at English Heritage or National Trust sites or most likely, places of learning value that you use more frequently. The whole point of the environment learning days is to exploit potential outside of the classroom.
Teacher Days - also for TAs, other support staff and Governors
We discuss the exact programme with you before we come but experience tells us that the Flow Learning Walk is popular because we cover a wide range of teaching opportunities and spend time planning their introduction across the curriculum. At the end of the day we give you a starter kit and plan the on-line support programme.
Community Days - for children and families either during school time or by special arrangement in the evening or at weekends.
These days are also best planned beforehand to make sure we cater for the age and ability range. The sessions are fun but with a solid learning purpose because they give us the opportunity to offer activities that all the family can enjoy.
Woodland School Days - on-site at the Chrysalis Woodland School, Dorset
You come to us and use our woodland classrooms and we spend the day exploring and enjoying nature with a purpose.
These days can be part of your school residential visit which we can also arrange. If you would like us to plan and organise a complete residential experience including accommodation and all day and night activities, then give us a call. We are all experienced field study officers.
Suggested Timetable
9.30 - 10.30     Introductions - story - Stage One Games - see Flow Learning
10.45 - 12.30     Stage Two / Three - learning to explore and get closer to nature
13.00 - 14.00     Stage Three / Four - first hand experience activities and sharing ideas and experiences
14.00 - ??     Teachers: making plans and assessing the day - how will you use the ideas, how will you             develop the resources?
Class Groups: putting on a show and making speeches and reports about their                 explorations.
Each session will be planned to meet your exact requirements. Each session will have detailed plans and a timetable. We will have carried out a risk assessment and will adjust and adapt for special situations.
Although these days are great fun and have a strong learning value, we hope that you will see them as the start of a log term partnership with Chrysalis so that we can continue to work with you in the background.
