Here is a list of courses and workshops available either on site in our woodland school or on your school premises, subject to suitability.

These are day events and can be booked well ahead during the year. There is more information about the Woodland School below.

Woodland Learning days with Chrysalis Life
For children
Environmental walks and activities. Nature games and adventures linked to the curriculum
For Staff-Train the Trainer Days
Learning  the activities and resources used, setting up your own programmes for use in school or other learning venues

Natural Art and Sculpture  Days
For children

Using the forms of nature to make 3 d sculpture and writing and telling stories about them. Includes a virtual gallery and exhibition album.
For Staff - Train the Trainer Days
Learning techniques for natural sculpting and art using the environment, photography and making virtual galleries.

Music Outside
For children

Come and explore natural and instrumental sounds to compose and perform in the Woodland Theatre. This includes a professional percussionist and/or choir teacher
For Staff - Train the Trainer Days
Making musical instruments, using instruments, composing techniques, performing and setting up concerts
Please note that these days might optionally include an evening performance for parents.

Be Better People
For children

Trust and relationship activities, problem solving and team building games in the wood. These days include a Venture Quest.
For Staff - Train the Trainer Days
Learning the activities and problem solving challenges, how to set them up and manage them, health and safety and first aid training and training and managing group leaders.
Please note that the Woodland School site has full insurance cover for the activities and the instructors are covered for public liability. We are all fully trained to the latest techniques and current standard requirements and are also qualified teachers.

Journeys Into the Beyond
For  children

Field trip guided walks and learning workshops at venues throughout the county. These may include farm visits, visits to crafts workshops and historical and geographical days.
Please note that the cost of transport is down to the school although we are trying to attract funding to support a portion of the expense.

For Staff - Train the Trainer Days
Qualified instruction in developing venues of learning value, developing the Out of the Classroom portfolio of venues and resources. We base the workshop at the site of your choice and bring in experts and other enthusiasts to help you to create the best learning value resources. You will also receive discounted costs for future visits and products where these apply.

Make a Hut in a Day
For children

Using provided materials, we build a frame hut, make the earth walls and then thatch it with the help of professional craftsmen. The children will learn from the experts. The day will end with Making Tea.
For Staff - Train the Trainer Days
Learn to build a frame hut and the basic thatching techniques needed. We cover the history of the construction methods and you learn best ways to involve children in the building process. You will also receive discounted materials and services for your school history hut where this is applicable.

Stories for the Future Past
For children

We learn to create and grow stories based on the traditions of the county. A professional story teller helps children to construct their own myths and legends, gives them the tricks for spell-binding story telling in the verbal tradition. This is also a performance day and can optionally include an evening concert, perhaps including  music and song - see above.
For Staff Train the Trainer Days
Learn some of the great traditional tales and how to use them with children. We cover story telling methods in the environment, how to use  events and circumstances to best effect. We learn how to create suspense and to use silence as a telling tool.
