Cheswick Green School Association is a group of volunteer parents and staff who organise several events during the year to raise money for the school. Our aim is to provide additional funding which will improve the quality of the learning environment and enhance the curriculum for all children at the school.

Although officially titled ‘Cheswick Green School Association’ we are usually referred to as the ‘PTA’ or ‘Parent Teachers Association’.  We meet approximately once a month, over tea, biscuits and cake, etc.  Anyone is welcome to join our meetings, details of which are posted on the PTA noticeboard just inside the school gates.  Whilst we have approximately 10 core members, we also have a band of other members who happily volunteer to organise individual events or help out before, during and after events.

If you would like to find out more about joining the PTA or would like to offer your help for a forthcoming event please approach any of the members.  We don’t bite, honest!  Most members can usually be found loitering on the school playground but to help you spot them here is a list of core members and year groups their children are currently in:-

PTA News

Summer 2009 – The PTA gave money back to the school to help subsidise school trips.  The money given was equivalent to £7 per child off the total cost for the 2009-2010 school year.

Key Stage 2 Playground – The PTA worked with staff and the Pupil Council to agree funding of £2000 for equipment for the KS2 playground.  Due to the weather this project has been postponed, but we hope to give you an update on this project as soon as possible.

Fireworks display – In November our annual fireworks display saw around 1800 visitors attend.  This event made a profit of approximately £4000 which will go towards the purchase of some of the additional new pc’s in the IT suite.

Christmas Fair – This was held on 11th December.  Father Christmas visited the school and there was a variety of stalls including home made cakes and the event raised £1200.

School Calendars – Profit from this fundraiser was approximately £100.

Valentines Disco – This was a successful evening enjoyed by both Key Stages.  It raised £320.

Frog Racing Evening – We had a great evening and managed to raise £220 profit!  Thank you to all who helped and also all who participated.

We are here for you and your children!

Do you, or your children, have any good ideas about what events you would like us to organise?  Do you have any suggestions about how you would like the money that we raise to be used?  If you do, let us know!  You can either speak to one of the members on the playground or put your idea in the suggestion box that is in the school reception (if you prefer to remain anonymous, that will be fine).

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at our forthcoming events!
