A star is a light bulb
illuminating the world.
A star is an aeroplane
way in the night sky.
Stars twinkle and wink
at people down below.
A star is an alone
little drop of snow.
Patrick McGrath and Luke Davis
I wander though the forest I hear a spooky sound
I am scared petrified, I look all around, I feel the breeze
I hear the wind, I turn round - to see a spooky looking tree.
It reaches out it's arms, I'm gone!

The moon is a big ball of cheese
That shines at night
It stays till the morning and goes at midday.
It is white and bright,
A wonderful sight.

During Creative week, we explored the use of figurative language in poetry. Mrs Dunkley, inspired us with some outdoor learning and we used these ideas to produce some fantastic poems!
Creative Week in Year 6

The leaves crunching under foot,
Snow forming a blanket cover,
The cold makes my face turn red,
The empty trees,
With no leaves,
Making the snow go red and orange,
No birds singing,
The forest is silent.
David Hardisty
Stars hover high in the night sky,
Like helicopters flying around,
Then they fall to the ground,
As if they are stones in water.

Stars are huge light bulbs,
Illuminating the earth.
They look like diamonds,
shimmering in the night sky.

They are aeroplanes too.
A star is a ball of cheese,
Or a beach ball kicked high into the sky,

They are shimmering five pence coins,
Flickering above our heads.
Stars.
William McGuiness
The moon is a small grey dot,
in the night sky.
The moon is a mirror,
reflecting the sun's light.
The moon is a firefly,
hovering around.
The moon is a bouncy ball,
the moon is a tiny little sun.
Daniel Armfield
The moon is a big grey cheese football,
The moon is sometimes a banana,
Or sometimes a coconut.
The moon is a big bouncing ball,
Around the earth at night
Kieran Thorn
The moon is a grey block of
cheese.
It is a football coming towards
earth,
The moon is a bouncy ball bouncing
around the universe at night.
The moon is all different 3d shapes,
It is the sister to the sun.

The moon is a giant snowball,
melting into different shapes.
It spins around the earth,
like a spinning top.
It travels round the world,
Enjoying every single moment.
Lauren Tansley

The star is the light of day
When I see one I go hooray
It is a cousin to the sun
It takes takes 2000000000
years for its life to be done
Zara Smart

The forest is a deep ,dark place ........I'm lonely I'm a toddler
I'm scared, leaves whispering at the back of me and wind rushing into me . It's always dark. I can hardly see anything,I'm nobody.

The moon is a giant firefly
It is the grey Knight hovering over the night sky,
It is a reflective mirror bouncing the sun's bright light ,
A glowing ball lighting the dark night,
I think it is a glowing gem.
