Teacher marking - Pins and Stickers
j2e-Colour-3D-logo-150w.png
Teacher marking allows adding of marks and comments to pupils work. The marks and comments can be added without having to resave the pupils work, and they are available 'on-line', even when the document is viewed as a web page.

Pins may also be added by other pupils, to comment and suggest on each others work.

The best mark for a document is shown on the thumbnail, when viewing a folder of files. Files can also be listed in mark order.

Adding a mark to some work
Marks can only be added when the file is in the editor. On the button bar, click on the red pin (a bit like a hot air balloon!). Select new pin to add a comment to the document. Teachers and individual users will also have a menu item, new sticker. This shows a range of stickers that may be added to the document. Having selected your pin or sticker, drag it onto the document and position it. A bubble will open up in which you can add your comments.

You can add whatever text you like in the bubble. Use the text controls on the right hand tool panel to add colour, fonts etc.

When completed, just close the bubble with the cross, you do not need to save the file.
The pin or sticker will now be visible whenever that document is viewed, and clicking on it will reveal the bubble containing the comment.

Deleting pins and stickers

Each pin remembers it's place on a document, and to which revision it was added. Pins can be deleted by their creator at any time. If a teacher places a pin on a pupils document, the pupil can delete it, but only on a later (saved) revision of the file. In this way, a complete history is kept of all the marks and suggestions, and can be seen by tracking back through the revisions.

The marks shown on file thumbnails, are just those on the latest revision of a file.

Updating pins and stickers

Only the creator of a pin or sticker can change its bubble text, this can be done at any time the document is shown in the editor. Pins may also be repositioned on a document, or have their colour changed.

Hypertext links

The bubble text can contain hypertext links, just stripe select some of the bubble text, click on link in the right hand tools, and add a reference to another page or web site. Use this to point students at further work or exampes, it is really powerful!

Test this out by clicking on this tick sticker.
