Spring Edition
Mini Laptop - EEEPC
The Asus EEEPC is a mini laptop that is causing considerable excitement and interest in the world of ICT. It runs Linux and is perfect for online applications such as Just 2 Easy. At under £200 for the 512mb version it brings the idea of one computer per child a step closer. For bulk purchases prices can be as low as £179 each although its popularity means that supplies can be difficult to obtain at short notice.
It has wireless and wired networking built in and we have created a login utility that
enables 2 shared drives to
appear when logged in.
The EEEPC has Open Office
pre-installed (free and files
are compatible with Microsoft
Office). It will not run Windows
software but more and more
software is becoming available online
so there are plenty of options. The EEEPC has a 2 year warranty.

Disgo Video Recorder
The Disgo Video recorder is an excellent cheap camcorder that can be used by children and staff. With 60min of recording (more if an SD card is added) and 2 x zoom, the Disgo is perfect for recording activities in and out of school.
Disgo does not come with any software. We recommend Revelation Sight and Sound.

Just 2 Easy news
The facilities available with Just2 Easy continue to increase. Take a look at the showcase and Geoff's blog. The very latest addition is on-line storage for files other than j2e files. This means that files can be accessed from anywhere.

Pippin
Pippin is the latest educational robot from Swallow Systems. Following on from the success of Pip and Pixie,
Pippin is only 10 cm long but has all the features you would expect to find in a much larger robot. Because of its size Pippin enables more complex LOGO commands to be used on a tabletop - a real boon in a crowded classroom. Pippin costs £120 postage and packing.

NOD 32 Anti-Virus
The licence with Sophos anti-virus covers staff computers at home. This is not the case with NOD32. We are able to supply the Home version at a discounted price for staff in Lifeline schools.
For one computer the full price is £26.99 inc VAT. for one year. The Lifeline price is £24.29 inc VAT. Renewals are cheaper - £16.44 inc VAT.
Prices for additional computers and additional years are cheaper per computer e.g. 2 computers for 1 year £33.29 (renewal £22.21), 3 computers for 2 years £63.00 (renewal £52.86).

Hopefully you have all received information about our new office at Unit 3, 78 Blandford Road, Corfe Mullen, BH21 3HQ.
