Networks and Searching

This course will help staff understand computer networks, including the internet and how they can provide multiple services, such as the World Wide Web. It will also show the opportunities they offer for communication and collaboration

Then staff will be shown how to search effectively and appreciate how the results are selected and ranked. Finally, an exercise that shows the need to be discerning in evaluating digital content.

Assessment of Computing

A look at summative and formative assessment methods in relation to the computing curriculum. We will assist with tailoring assessment to match the approach to the curriculum.  

We will provide examples of various assessment techniques and strategies that can be used and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Creating e-books in the Classroom

This course will show staff how to create e-books and provide a wealth of ideas for their use in the classroom. It can be enhanced with aerial photos and videos from our skyview drone.

Getting started with the Just2Easy suite

Just2Easy is a suite of online tools for presentation, coding, blogging, voting, review and more. It has won several BETT awards and is available as an annual subscription.

This course will introduce the various tools, show how to get the most effective use from them and provide ideas and advanced tips.

This course concentrates on using spreadsheets to support different areas of the curriculum including science, PE, and of course mathematics. Access to the 'Fun with Spreadsheets' downloadable booklet is included in the price.

There is a large variety of websites and apps that can be used with both iPads and Android tablets. This course will introduce a selection, show how they can be used to introduce programming techniques and to extend learning.
