On behalf of the pupils, parents, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Mayflower Primary School’s website. We hope that you will find this a useful source of information as well as providing an insight into the varied life of our school.

Mayflower was judged to be a ‘good’ school during its last Ofsted Inspection and our focus has been upon “Inspiring Creative Life-Long Learners”. We believe it is important to provide our youngsters with the tools and skills they will need in order to meet the demands of the world in which we live.

At Mayflower Primary School we recognize the achievements of our children across all areas of school life and ensure that these are celebrated through both our‘Achievement Assemblies’ and the ‘Well Done Blog” you can find on our website. We firmly believe that‘success breeds success’ and achievement should be recognised.

Our main school caters for pupils between the ages of four and eleven while our nursery provides places, either morning or afternoon, for children over the age of three.

Across the school we have eight year groups with two classes in each year group. The Reception Classes accommodate children between the ages of three and five years old and there is a Key Stage 1 Department for children aged between five and seven years. OurKey Stage 2 children remain at Mayflower until they are eleven years old, whenthe majority will transfer to Judgemeadow Community College and Crown Hills Community College at the end of year six.

If you are considering admitting your child to Mayflower, it is advisable that you visit us and look around the school, so that you can ensure that the school will best serve the needs of your child. This will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions about the experiences and opportunities your child will have during their time at the school. Once your child has started at Mayflower, you are always very welcome to come into school. We advise you to telephone the office should you require an appointment, prior to your arrival, in order that arrangements can be made for someone to be available to help you and to answer any questions that you may wish to ask.

At Mayflower we provide a disciplined and stimulating environment for all children to learn and succeed. We all believe that the staff, the parents and the Governors should work together to make children’s learning experience happy, successful and exciting. We have a Home School Liaison Officer who is concerned specifically with developing relationships between home and school. However, any member ofstaff will be pleased to help you if the need arises.

We look forward to meeting you and thank you for taking the time to visit our site.
