In July we were fortunate to win the prestigeous Welsh Heritage Schools Initiative Award of £1000 and the shield for our project on William Morgan, Mary Jones and the growth of the Welsh Bible in Wales.

We were invited to the National Museum in Cardiff to receive our prize. We nervously waited in the auditorium for the judges to call our our name, and were extatic to hear that not only had we won the shield and money but also the award for our work on women in history. After the ceremony we went to Porthcawl beach for an ice cream to celebrate our success!

On Tuesday 15th September Mrs James, Mrs Brice, Mrs Williams and six pupils from year 6 were invited to the Welsh Heritage 25th anniversary celebrations at the Assembly in Cardiff to show the winning project. We were shown around the Assembly and were invited to have sandwiches and juice before the ceremony at 6pm.

As Mrs James has been participating in Welsh Heritage projects for over 20 years, she was invited to speak about her experiences, and the wealth of knowledge that the pupils have had in researching different eras in Welsh history.
