The governing body is a group of individual volunteers from varied backgrounds who share an interest in the education of young children at Stokes school, working together in partnership with the Mr Meadows and staff, making decisions about wide-ranging aspects of school life.

The governors operate through whole Governing Body meetings once a term and through the functioning of three sub-committees – Property / Health and Safety, Curriculum, Personnel / Finance, which also meet once each term.

School governing bodies have an important role in raising standards of education and the wellbeing of our children in school. Their main purpose is to provide a strategic and policy framework within which schools are run.

It is the responsibility of the Head Teacher and staff to implement the plans and deliver the curriculum.

The governing body is responsible for raising expectations, being a "critical friend" to the school and holding it to account.
