Where do gorillas live?


Gorillas live in Rainforests or Tropical Rainforests. They usually live

in groups of 6 - 30 animals. The two oldest males called silverbacks

lead the group and make the decisions for the day. They are usually

friendly towards each other and they rarely fight.


What do gorillas eat?


Gorillas eat fruit such as bamboo shoots, bananas, guava and over a hundred more. They also eat ants and termites. The rarely eat meat.


How much do gorillas weigh and how tall are they?


Gorillas weigh 300 - 600 pounds which is equivalent to 140 - 270kg. A full grown male can be as tall a human, but females can be slightly shorter. Gorillas can live from 35-40 years. There are 2 species of gorillas, the western and the eastern.

What do gorillas do during the day?


Gorillas usually spend the day together. Females spend the day with their young that can weigh up to 2kg after birth.

Why are gorillas endangered?



All species of gorillas are endangered, due to habitat loss, overhunting and poaching. In the early 2000's the Ebola virus killed over 5000 gorillas from each species.
