Temperate rainforests are north of the tropic of cancer and south of the tropic of capricorn. Temperate rainforests don't get as much heat.
Rainforests are mainly located close to the equator. Rainforests are dense and warm It rains lots in rainforests at least 250cm of rain falls each year.
Red Eyed Tree Frog
The red eyed tree frog is one of the most recognisable frogs because they are so colourful. It has red bulging eyes, blue streaks on its belly and bright orange feet. They have suction pads on their feet, which sticks on trees, branches and leaves. They live in lowland rainforests so they can be near ponds, rivers and streams. They are nocturnal so feed at night on insects such as flies, moths, grasshoppers and crickets.
The red eyed tree frog lives in the understory layer in Central America. They are nocturnal and rest of large leaves during the day.
They live in Southern Asia rainforests. Siamang Gibbon is the largest of seven kinds of Gibbon. Gibbons are the smallest of the ape family and spend most life in trees. There arm over arm movement (known as brachiation). They have tiny legs and long arms so they can swing. The siamang stands at 3 feet tall.
Siamang Gibbons, like all gibbons, have a vocal sacs called gular sacs on their throat. Female and male have these. Gular sacs is a throat pouch that can be inflated to the size of there head which, this makes them scream extremely loud.
Siamang Gibbons are endangered their habitat is being chopped down so palm oil plants can be grown instead. Palm oil is used in foods for us - like Nutella.
