Scratch is a 'free' computer program developed for education by MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology -the same organisation that developed the original Logo programming language.
Scratch enables pupils to program objects (sprites) to move around the screen (stage). It is suitable for pupils from Key Stage 2 and upwards. As well as sprites moving around the screen they can talk or play music. They can change 'costumes' and interact.
As well as teaching pupils the importance of sequencing and logical thinking, Scratch encourages the use of co-ordinates, algebra (through variables), and geometry. It enables pupils to use their imagination to develop projects that are exciting and complex. Completed projects can be uploaded to the Scratch website so that they can be viewed.
This course will provide you with an understanding of how to use Scratch and also ideas for using it in the classroom. It is suitable for those who have never used Scratch as well as those who are more experienced.

Movement and pens
Control and sensing
Looks and sound
