MICROSOCIETY!
This week was the second week that we learnt about enterprise. During this week, we chose our businesses and were starting them up but everyone had to pay the bank for everything they need. This is only because we are starting a society from scratch and everything has to be paid for.
Mr Woods also told us that the government has to make people pay tax so how are we going to make them pay tax accordingly. The government was made up of me (the president), Tom (the judge), Henry and Marcelina (the police officers), Vashni (the tax inspector and import officer), Stewart (the banker) and Sonny (the bank clerk). Tom then suggested to make everyone pay exactly 10% of what they earn and if they didn't earn anything then they would have to pay 20 oras. Because we had to find out exactly how much they had earned, we decided that everyone had to make receipts that show the truth but it wasn't fair that they had to pay for the paper so we decided to give them 2 pieces of paper to start off with.
Everyone who wasn't a part of the government had to start their own business and they could decide if they wanted to work in a group or alone. I know that Puvisha, Chloe and Lucrezia (Lou) decided to work in a group that designs bookmarks and drawings and stuff like that. Also some people's parents came to school to talk about their jobs. Both Jake's and Lily's mums came to tell us about their role in the community. Jake's mum works for BBC Radio 3 and Lily's mum was a human resources supplier. I learnt so much from them and I hope I will learn much more next week and I hope that it will be as fun.
