My Kensuke's Kingdom Blog
My name is Michael, I am eleven and a half years old, this is just a little tale I have to tell you about where I went on the Peggy Sue and about my life from the past two months.
My father and my mother were both made redundant because the brickworks were closing down. My father left, my mother said his last words before he said goodbye were "There's only one lousy wage coming into this house, and its Michael's paper money from his newspaper round...How do you think that makes me feel, my eleven years old son is bringing more money in the house than me!"
Two weeks passed and then the phone call came. I knew it was dad, mum sat me down and told me what he said, "Michael...Your father found us a place down south, he said just to pack your bags and get on the train! Don't worry about the house...Just come!" I was so exited because my best friend Eddie Dodds moved down south a couple of weeks back, that means I'll get to see him again! I was so happy.
When we got off the train dad was standing there waiting for us, he was back to his old self, his face was as bright as the stars "Come here Monkey Face!" that's what dad always used called me. Dad took us to the beach...and on a boat...and made us some tea. He sat mum and I down and started to talk to us: "Mum, you remember when we got married and i had that idea of buying a boat and travelling around the world? Well, I've gone ahead and done it, how would you like to go around the world and see every country and continent in the whole wide world?!" Mum was puzzled so she asked dad to say it again "What about Michael's Education?" said Mum "I've got it all sorted, I went to a local school and told them all about my plan and they gave me all the books that we will need for the time that we are going to be at sea, just trust me darling....please? We will take our training, you'll be able to pass your test and get your certificate."
Today training starts and we have this trainer called Bill Parker but we call him 'Barnacle Bill' (not to his face of course). Bill hated Stella Artois (my dog) and I. We couldn't wait for training to be over, none of us could.
