Technology is My Life
AIRPLANES
BY LOIS MOLEMA
The one piece of technology that I could not live without is the airplane. If we didn't have airplanes I may not be alive today! You see, my father came from The Netherlands then moved to New Zealand before coming to England to live where he met my mother. If it wasn't for air travel Daddy might have never moved from the place where he was born.
The world would be a boring place to live without airplanes because all the different nationalities at our school would probably not be with us. I would not see my Oma and Opa every summer as they live in New Zealand and to come to see me in London, by boat from the other side of the world, would take an exceptionally long time.
If airplanes did not exist my summer holiday would not be as fun. I get to fly further away from England where the food is strange to my taste buds, the smells seem exotic and the clothes the people wear transport me to another world. Of course we could go by car but my sister and I would end up fighting most of the journey.
The world needs airplanes in times of crisis because if earthquakes happen, like in Nepal, water, food, doctors and rescue workers would not be able to reach the drama in time. Airplanes are used to spy on baddies to make the world a safer place, and to bring poor people back from danger in war stricken countries.
Some things would be better though if airplanes had not been invented; the air would be cleaner and the sky would not be so noisy with the thundering hum of their engines. I hope now that you have read my thoughts you might think that airplanes are technology superstars.
