Plastic Bag Tree.
The bags are ripe
On the Plastic Bag Tree,
Bags as far
As the eye can see.
Apples and pears, peaches and plums;
The fruit is ripe, it's fantastic.
Lemon and lime, bunches of grapes;
And old bags, made of plastic.
Shake the branches
Gather the crop,
It's time to take them
Down to the shop.
Fresh plastic bags
On sale today.
There's a choice of colour:
Black or grey!
Apples and pears, peaches and plums;
The fruit is ripe, it's fantastic.
Lemon and lime, bunches of grapes;
And old bags, made of plastic.
There's plenty on the shelf.
No need to panic.
And next year's bags
Might be organic.
The bags are ripe
On the Plastic Bag Tree
Bags as far
As the eye can see.
Bags as far
As the eye can see.
Bags of bags
As I can see.
That is the poem I chose to write about. I chose this poem because it seemed to stand out from all of the other poems I read, as it wasn’t about Michael’s childhood, it was about how he saw one day in a train what damage plastic bags can do. It also has a hint of a joke in it because he describes how plastic bags are for sale. Plastic bags that have already been used are never for sale, they are just left lying about by careless people. Also, if the fruit is ripe, it probably ripened on the shelves. This poem makes people aware about what is happening to nature and why it destructs it. That is why I like this poem.By Polina.
