Animals living in Rainforests
Crocodile - There are 14 different species of crocodiles. The crocodile has its eyes, ears and nostrils on the top of its head. This allows it to lie low in the water as it waits for its pray.
Sloths are tree dwellers of central and south America.
They have a low metabolic rate and spend 15 to 20 hours a day sleeping. They are excellent swimmers.
The Jaguar is the largest cat. It lives near water like rivers, lakes and wet lands. They are good swimmers and hunters. They hunt both day and night.
The Poison Dart Frog can be found on trees, under leaves and logs and under rocks on the floor. They are hard to see and warn off predators with brilliant colours and patterns and with toxicity.
Macaws are highly intelligent birds that can live up to 60 years old. Many of the macaws are extinct because of illegal capture.
