My Lighthouse Blog

I liked making the lighthouse.

We had to get into groups of four

and my group was: John, Jinyoo, Amal and me.

We made it with:

A kitchen roll tube

A yogurt pot

A plastic lid

Some card

A small piece of cardboard

And the electrical stuff (batterie, bulb and wires)

We had to cut the red and white cards into strips and wrap them around tube to make it look stripey.Next, we had to connect all of the wires together to turn on the light. Then, we had to stick the plastic lid to the bottom of the tube to create a base.We put in the wiring making sure the bulb was at the top. Next, we poked a hole in a small piece of card and poked the bulb through it. Finally, we placed the yogurt pot on top and the masterpiece was complete!

An easy part about making it was thinking of the design because we'd all seen pictures of lighthouses and we'd talked a bit about what they looked like before we started structuring it.

A tricky part about making it was finding all of the equipment because we couldn't find a descent sized yogurt pot that was see through but luckily Mr Lockwood-Wells found some in the art room.

Top Tips:

Make it stripey by using strips of card

Use sellotape and NOT glue

Don't stick the lid to the top and make sure that you can see through it

Decorate it with windows, doors and birds
