step 1: The first thing that they did is they marked a straight line.

step 2: Then the Romans dug 1 meter down.

step 3: Third, they put big stones where they dug down one meter.

step 4: Fourth crushed big stone into smaller stones and then they put them on top of the big ones.

step 5: Finally, they put flat stones on top of everything.
