SCHOOLS IN JAPAN.

Schools in Japan are very different to schools in this country. In this page I will talk about

what children do in Japanese schools and what things they have to do to be a good student.

Lets start with sports...

Japan's most popular sports is base ball which is very similar to

cricket. Soccer is also catching up in popularity. In elementary

schools, after school, the children have a choice of which sports

they would like to play and the sign up for it.

Inside the classroom...

There are a few weird things that happen inside the classroom.

Every day a student comes in front of the class and sometimes

teach a little that they know or they'd come up to dismiss the

class to get ready for lunch and break.Another weird thing is

that the students take turns in little groups and wash their own

class, wash the hallway and wash the halls. The children take

turns to serve lunch to their classmates. They have lunch together

in their own classrooms and after lunch their is a big sink and

they brush their teeth! Even me, I'm just thinking 'REALLY!'

Holidays...

As usual the children don't go to school

on Saturdays or Sundays and when it is

a summer holiday they break up on the

20 of July to the 31 of August and on

spring holidays it lasts 10 days from

26th of December to January the 6th.
