Conductors and Insulators
Electricity travels easily through conductors, like metals. Many metals like copper, Iron and steel are a good example of electrical conductors. Metal is used in plugs to allow electricity to transfer from the wall socket, through the plug and into a device such as a radio or a TV. In a light bulb the glass is around the copper wires so you don't get electrocuted.
Materials that don't let electricity pass through them are called electrical insulators. Plastic, wood, glass and rubber are good examples of electrical insulators. That is why they are used to cover materials that carry electricity. The plastic covering around the cooper wires are called am electrical insulator. It stops you from getting electrocuted.
