A pale glow seeped through the faded yellow crack in the key hole, burning through the stained,

moth-bitten carpet that peeled off the floor. Outside a curious young girl dangled herself from the fence ,poised to leap over the black iron bars. Then she jumped onto the mossy floor. Slowly rain began to gather at her feet as it pounded down on her body, leaving a small puddle in her shoes. She squinted through the pouring rain her eyes locked on the door as she wondered through the eerie yard, suddenly the girl caught sight of a light flooding out a open window. Carefully and gingerly she stepped closer but there was a strange burning feeling climbing up her arm. the light was getting closer she stood still in shock seconds later she was back to her senses, and soon began the feel the floor in search of a stick. The girl knew very well a stick wouldn't help but holding it close made her feel in some way sheilded, there was know time to hang about because the vicious glow was gaining on her fast now how would she escape?

Brandishing the mud cladded stick in the air she scrambled to her feet and ran, soon the girl had picked up speed dashing across the yard this time the gate opened at her touch and in a second she was safe on the other side of the fence. Her shoes were now as wet as puddles. Slamming the gate shut the light crept back in through the window. Then the girl looked back up at the red brick house and shuddered, she would never go there agian.
