This fascinating page will blow your mind it will give you loads of interesting different species of sharks.
HAMMERHEAD SHARK
The hammerhead shark has one of the strangest heads of any fish. Its eyes and nostrils are at each end of the hammer shape and this arrangement is thought to make its senses of sight and smell extra efficient. This arrangement may also increase the efficiency of the special sensing organs that detect electrical activity. These help the shark prey such as stingray hidden in the sand on the sea bed.
GREAT WHITE SHARK
The great white shark has as many as three hundred teeth, arranged in rows in its jaws. It uses the teeth in the first two rows four tearing flesh from its prey. The teeth in the other rows are there ready to move into place if the shark loses any teeth as it feeds. That way it is never without
a full set of teeth. Because shark's
teeth are the shed constantly
though life, and they are one of
the most powerful of all oceans.
It feeds on seals, dolphins, and other
sharks.
WHALE SHARK
This shark is the largest fish in the
whole entire world. The whale shark
is not a fierce hunter. It eats only
small fish and animal plankton.
Animal plankton are the tiny animals that fill the surface waters of the sea.
Fierce killer whales can catch fish, squid, sea lions, and even other whales. They live and hunt in family groups of about forty or more.
THE BLUE WHALE
The blue whale is the largest animal that has ever lived-even bigger than the biggest dinosaur. Blue whales can grow to thirty metres long.
HUMPBACK WHALES
Humpback whales spend summers at the north or south poles, where there are plenty of small fish and shrimp-like krill for food. In winter, the Humpbacks migrate to warmer seas near the equator, where females give birth to their young. When the young are big enough to travel, the wales return to polar seas.
ANGLER FISH
The female angler fish is an expert predator. But the male angler fish, which is much smaller, does not need to hunt. Once a young male has found a female he attaches himself to her with his teeth. Eventually he becomes part of her body. Both benefit. the male shares the female's bloodstream so does not need to find his own food. The female never has to look for a mate-which can be a difficult task in the dark depth.
