With the light still going strong gone 10pm, the children were playing out on the field, then came a call from a certain y6 teacher that she wondered if the 'children' could go in! A great game of indoor football was had between the Kingswood staff and some children and we finally called it a day at 10.20pm.

We had started with an unusually smooth journey down to Folkestone and we feeling very smug, when the delay hit us. No idea what it was for, but we got to eat lunch on some grass with seagulls circling us- so pretty much like the rest of the week will be.

We finally boarded the train and to everyone's great surprise, Stuart the coach driver of 6p's coach, produced a fully equipped bingo set. A cd, number cards, pens, a winning prize of haribo and some glorious trance music in between the numbers being called by the cd. It was Tenerife in the 1980's all over again. The game progressed at a good speed and the packet of haribos was a clear incentive, well you'll never guess who won.... What are the chances! I did thank my family, friends and all my fellow competitors In the victory speech. The other highlight was mr Powell trying his best to impersonate Philip Schofield a play a 'BFF' version of mr and mrs from a very high brow 10 year old girls magazine  with 2 children of French distinction. "No, you've got to guess what they would say" must have been uttered 20 times.

By now on the other coach mrs Pointon still thought she was going on 'holiday' and the prospect of her keeping to her super foods diet during the week was looking slim. They had suffered one bout of travel sickness on the other coach- fortunately 6p's stomachs were secure!

A word for our two coach drivers, Roger and Stewart. Two very friendly characters. Apparently roger is not shy on the old mike with a story or two. And whilst the adults on 6p's bus are being a bit liberal with the truth about the delay, roger is giving a blow by blow account.

We arrived an hour before dinner which was enough time to settle into their rooms and for the girls to unpack and make their beds. The boys meanwhile threw their clothes into a draw and asked many baffling questions about what to do with the sheet and the blanket.

By now mr Powell had a full on grin and the old routines from last year were back in swing: dorm points (dp's apparently), room captains, messengers, dorm mottos etc etc. He is currently positively salivating at the prospect of a 7.40 dorm inspection. Meanwhile the girls have turned their rooms into 'Xmas theme ' and are making songs for mrs Thomas.

Dinner fluctuated between ready made 5in frozen pizzas ( last seen in 1989) to bread, a reasonable chicken dish, bread and some very tasty eclairs and bread.  mrs Pointon still mentioned the word holiday 3 times at dinner- there will be a fine from now on. Children are all tucked up- Rouen and then activities back at the centre tomorrow! Weather looks great.
