Year 5 Girls Inspirational Northwood College Visit

On Thursday 23rd May 2019, the girls of Year 5 visited Northwood College for Girls. This gave us a chance to widen our academic skills, using logic to solve problems and riddles.

We travelled by coach and when we first saw the stunning school, we were flabbergasted by the beauty of the surroundings and facilities of the award-winning institution.

We participated in a number of different activities/subjects such as: Swimming, Chemistry, Physics and Music.

Music – During this session, we had to solve a range of clues, which required logic, to transform Winter into Spring in the ‘North Wood’. After we solved the clues, we discovered that we must awaken Spring with the power and sound of music.

Swimming – Swimming was packed with fun and enjoyable games, yet it helped us to save ourselves from unpredictable situations and helped us improve our skills. Then, we took part in a treasure hunt (in and out of water) which needed knowledge to help us figure out where the treasure was. At the end, the winning team was awarded with chocolate buttons (treasure).

Chemistry – In Chemistry, we had an amazing time as we got the opportunity to place ourselves in a real Scientist’s shoes. We experimented with chemicals and fire to determine our destined house. We also got to wear lab clothes that protected us from the harmful substances.

\ZPhysics- During this lesson, we created towers using paper straws and masking tape. This helped us understand the importance of balancing out different weights. We then had to place a weight on the top of the tower to see if it had kept its shape.

Overall, we had an amazing time!!
