The Blitz - which happened during World War 2 – was heavy and frequent bombing from the Luftwaffe (Commanded by Hitler*). The Blitz, also known as lightning war, was aimed on big cities. They bombed 8 of our major cities: Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Southampton, Plymouth, Birmingham, Coventry and Liverpool. Two of the bombs were banned after WW2, they caused so much damage; the acid bomb - which burned your skin and the nuke bomb - which could destroy countries at a time. Because the bombing caused so much damage they built anderson shelters in there gardens. The blitz killed over 2000 people in the first night but most of the bodies couldnt be found.

Why did they do it?

The Luftwaffe - German Bombers - wanted to destoy our weapons. That is

why they aimed at the big cities and the coast. 3200 civilians were killed;

2,000,000 houses were demolished. The Luffewaffe tryed to scare us but

we carried on fighting. 60% of London was destroyed.
