CELEBRATIONS TO MARK THE 75th ANNIVERSARY OF VE DAY

On Friday 1st May there were going to be lots of celebrations to mark this very special anniversary. This includes celebrations in Cheswick Green.

Although the celebrations cannot go ahead in the way they were planned it is important that this day is still remembered and celebrated.

Reverend Vicki has sent me some ideas so that you and your family can join in the celebrations in your home.

Have a look at these different ideas and see if you can join in.

Tell me about what you are doing on the blog and send me some pictures to office@cheswick-green.solihull.sch.uk  so I can do a very special VE Day Celebration Blog

Joining people across the whole of our country  to do a 'Nation's Toast to the Heroes of WW2'.

This will be in your own home at 3pm on 8th May.

Stand up and raise a glass of refreshment of choice

saying the 'Toast' - 'To those who gave so much, we  thank you'.

Thoughts for the weeks beginning

Monday 27th April and Monday 4th May

Create a Community  Art & History Project to be displayed in your windows-

You could

a) Find out about a family member or person whose history can be researched on the internet who contributed to Victory in the Second World War either overseas or on the Home Front

Make a poster, photo montage or piece of artwork to display in your window

about them.

b)  Design and make a medal for a Corona Virus hero?

It could be a family member (eg a parent home schooling children), a  member of a particular profession (eg. nurse, research scientist, reporter  bringing accurate news etc) or someone else.

Make a poster, photo montage or piece of artwork to display in your window about them.

c)  Design a Medal for a Second World War hero/heroine or a Corona Virus hero.

  Display it in your window.
