The Spanish Armada were 130 Spanish ships that carried 2,500 guns. They carried 30,000 soldiers and sailors from all around Spain. The ships were used by King Phillip 2 in 1588AD.

The Spanish Armada was around when Queen Elizabeth 1 was the Queen.

The Spanish Amada were the ones who always won battles until this amazing event in history.

Beacons were lit on the south coast of England when the Armada were seen heading towards London on the 29th July 1588AD.

After lots of fighting, The Spanish Armada anchored near Dover on the 6th August 1588AD.

On the 7th August the English set fire to the English ships without any passengers on board the ship. Then they let the ships go away into the sea heading towards the Spanish ships.

The Spanish Armada ships carried gun powder so the thought that they would blow - up. So the Spanish Amada ships fled.

The ships sailed north. The sailors controlling the Spanish ships were suffering lack of food and water so they all decided to give up one after the other and they all ended up diciding to go back to Spain and tell there King the results of the battle. So they all headed home and during September 1588AD, many ships crashed and sunk on the coast of Scotland and Ireland. With only 58 ships returning to Spain, many sailors had died.

Meanwhile no ships had sunk for the English and less than 100 sailors had died. The English had a big celebration with a medal saying GOD BLEW AND THEY SCATTERED.
