The Tudors

Tudors was a very famous period.It was between 1485 and 1603.The first Tudor monarch was Henry VII who defeated Richard III at Bosworth.

Henry VII had a son called Henry VIII.The Tudors were powerful and rich with their monarch.

Tudor life was very harsh.Teachers in Tudor times were very strict.If you misbehaved you would get 50 strokes of the cane.Rich people wore fine clothes,poor people wore simple clothes that would have to last them for many years.Girls had to marry at the age of 12 and boys 14.

The most interesting thing about Henry VIII is that he had six wives.The first wife was Catherine of Argon. After their marriage Catherine was pregnant and gave a daughter called Mary.Henry got frustrated and wanted to divorce but he couldn't divorce her because their wasn't a law that you could get divorced so Henry made one and divorced her.

After that he fell in in love with Anne Boleyn.They secretly married each other.Unfortunately Anne Boleyn failed to produce male quickly and soon got executed by Henry.

Jane Seymour was the third wife of Henry VIII.She was the most beloved wife of Henry because she gave birth to a male heir called Edward.12 days later she died because of her sickness.

Anne of Cleves was the next wife of Henry VIII.Henry thought she looked beautiful because she was painted but when they were face to face Henry thought she was ugly and looked like a horse.Henry still wanted to marry her but Anne of Cleves annulled the marriage and married someone else.

Catherine Howard was the next wife.Soon after the marriage Henry was informed that she was in love with someone else.So she got beheaded.

The last wife was Catherine of Parr. Unfortunately Henry himself passed away and Catherine of Parr married Thomas Seymour.
