What Was The Blitz?

On the 7th of September 1940 at 4:56pm, the air raid sirens wailed as the German Air Force launched a massive raid on London. In September 1940 till May 1941, German bombers attacked British cities, ports, armys and industrial areas. Over three hundred and fifty bombers, flew across the channel from airfields in France and dropped three hundred tonnes of bombs on the docks and streets of the east end of London. Heavy, freaquent bombing attacks on London and other citys was known as the Blitz. London was bombed every day and every night for 11 weeks and bombed one third of London. English citys covered all light so the Germans couldn't see anything. On the first attack, Britain had no clue German bombers were coming. Unfortunatly, over two thousand people died. Cities were targeted at night (they dropped bombs).

Why did they attack us?

They wanted to scare us, they wanted to destroy our weapons and buildings so we would surender and they could take over. Hitler didn't want to kill all of us, he wanted to take over our country.
