School Council - 5.11.14

At today's School Council meeting we fed back the responses from our class questions from last week. Children reported back on what children in their classes thought about the following questions..

1) Why is it important to eat healthily?

2) What should go into a healthy school dinner or packed lunch?

3) We what we already do at Holy Trinity to keep healthy?

Children reported back that we shouldn't allow crisps, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks and children should be asked to bring in a piece of fruit each day. Children also replied that we do the following to keep healthy already...

- PE 3 times a week

- Early Years and KS1 have a piece of fruit daily

- We drink water

- We have different fruit and vegetables to choose from at Lunchtime

We then talked about the recent success we had in gaining our Bronze

Healthy School Award and how we would like to now work towards our

Silver. Miss Parker said that she and Miss Scrase would need our help to

gain it!

We came up with the following ideas on how to be healthy and promote a healthy lunchtime...

1) Run a Healthy Lunch Poster Competition

2) Get Miss Scrase to do an assembly with the school nurse

3) Ask Miss Annette in the kitchen to talk to us about healthy school meals

4) Have regular fun runs in the local park

5) Put it on the website

After our discussion the class representatives wrote down feedback and questions to ask their class. These were the following....

1) How can we promote a healthy lunchtime?

2) Do you think a poster competition is a good idea?

Lastly, we reminded ourselves on last weeks topic of

discussion - how to have a healthy lunchtime and about

being active at lunchtime. We invited Mr Lewis

along to the end of our meeting to hand him over the

letter that we wrote last week about equipment in

the KS1 and KS2 playground. Here are some pictures

of Mr Lewis reading the letter and the letter that we

all signed. We are looking forward to hearing

Mr Lewis' response next week.
