Book week was so fun because we read a book called Look Back, we got to dress as our favourite book character or in a tropical theme. The best thing was the author visit with Matt Brown. He was very funny and I loved watching him talk about how he wrote the story. He told us about his dog and how it was evil. It is a small, fluffy sausage dog but I didn’t think it was evil but it looked so cute! He said it was evil because the dog had pooped on his kitchen floor and Matt came downstairs into his kitchen, which was pitch black, and stood in the poop. He said what made it worse was that he had no shoes or socks on and felt it with his bare foot. He also told us the main features of writing a book for him which were where it was set, the main characters, the beginning, the twist, and the ending. He also taught us how to chose the character names. The first step was to get your get your mums, dads, friends or pets name, that will be the characters first name. The second step is to pick a road name or your road name and that will be the surname.

Look Back is a very entertaining book, I loved how it was really building up for a big twist about Ti Bolom and who he is. I kept on noting down about who I thought he was and I thought it was really fun. He had big round black eyes, a large circular head and he had one long, flat foot. He was very short and a male. At first I thought he was a clown because clowns are more likely to stalk you at night and they wear long, flat shoes. But a few pages into the book I thought he had to be a nocturnal animal because if he followed people at night he must have been able to see in the dark - so maybe he was nocturnal because of his big dark eyes which many nocturnal creatures have and he was very fast and good at digging so I thought he was an animal. Everybody guessed what Ti Bolom could be and I found it very exciting, but the ending wasn’t as good as I hoped because Ti Bolom was just a creepy face in the mirror with happy, blue eyes and a giant smile on his face. It totally didn’t match the description! I felt like the author was building up for a really good “twist” but the author didn’t use the opportunity which I thought was a shame because it was really good until the end. But what did make it rather exciting was how the author still left Christopher who was the little boy in the book sleeping so we didn’t know if it was a dream or not. I predicted it wasn’t a dream because he could have fell asleep and Ti Bolom could have been in the mirror next to him.

I loved how we got to dress up in a tropical theme of our favourite book character. It was really nice not to be in our usual school uniform. I went in a really pretty pinky-peachy dress which was covered in tropical items like pineapples and palm trees. It has a floppy bit on the front which looked really nice with the dress. There was another girl in my class who wore a tropical themed dress which looked really pretty on her. I was glad I wasn’t the only one in a dress, her dress was bright red with lots of little flowers on it. Two of my friends wore trousers, and I was already really hot in my dress so they must have been burning. They wore trousers because in the morning it looked like it was going to rain and I was worried I would be freezing but actually it was very hot.
