A long walk in the countryside

Last month the school organised an outing for Year 5 students. The parents were also invited. The teacher prepared for us some handouts to work during the walk. The day before the outing, I prepared some sandwiches and two bottles of water.

The day of the outing arrived. At around 9 o'clock we left school to start the walk. All my classmates were so excited for this walk. We had 15 km to walk. We started walking in pairs. I was at the front of the line. We arrived near a playground and we stopped to take a break. I ate buns that my cousin had bought for me before from Barbetta Bakery, which is a popular bakery in Żejtun. After the break I played with my classmates on the zip line.

We continued walking. Soon we started walking in a narrow street in the fields. Then we saw the church of St Nicholas which can be found between Żejtun and Marsaxlokk. It is so beautiful chapel from outside. We continued walking and we saw another chapel which is Tas-Silġ chapel. It is a very old chapel, but it is still used today.

We resumed our walk and some time later we arrived at Wied iż-Żonqor and there we took the second break. There was a breathtaking view. The sea looked so beautiful sea and the high rocks were majestic. The teacher told us to be careful where we walked and jokes were not allowed.

We carried on walking at Wied iz-Żonqor and then we arrived at St Thomas Bay. There we met Mary louise Coleiro Preca the former president. The Head of School gave us a bottle of water because the walk was so long and we were all tired. Then the coaches came for us to go back to school.

It was such an interesting outing because we collected money for Dar Nazareth, which helps persons with disability. I was so happy that I helped these people.
