Robert Falcon Scott
Robert Falcon Scott was a British Navy Officer. Leading two Antarctic expeditions he was nicknamed "Scott of the Antarctic". Robert was born on the 6th of June 1868 in Plymouth, he had one child called Peter Scott. In 1889 to 1890 he served as a Lieutenant on the HMS Amphion then in 1894 he then served as a torpedo officer on the HMS Vulcan.
Robert Falcon Scott went on his
second expedition in 1910 and he left for
this expedition with: Edward Adrian Wilson,
Lawrence Oates, Henry Robertson Bowers
and Edgar Evans. The Terra Nova
Expedition was organised by private
venture and Scott estimated roughly costing
£40,000 the cost for the ship ' Terra Nova ' was £12,500. Also Scott wanted to sail her as a Naval vessel under the White Ensign; to enable this, he obtained membership of the Royal Yacht Squadron for the sum of £100.
