Google Expeditions Day

On Thursday 10th December, KS2 pupils had the unique opportunity to participate in the Google Expeditions Pioneer program when two members of staff from Google in London came to visit us.

The children used cardboard viewers with embedded phones to "visit" selected destinations via collections of virtual reality panoramas. Pupils held the devices to their faces as the phone's app showed 360-degree views of sites such as ocean reefs, Mount Everest, rainforests and shark infested seas. Pupils were able to move their heads up and down, and side to side, to control the direction of their view.

Each classroom teacher led the class from a tablet that mirrored the view and provided annotated details, points of interest, and questions.

It was great fun for pupils and teachers alike!
