Thoughts for the Week

Tuesday 20th September

THE LITTLE TRAIN OF THE CAIPIRA

This week we have been listening to ' The Little Train of the Caipira' composed by Heitor Villa- Lobos.

Villa-Lobos travelled by train on some of his musical adventures through Brazil and one of his most famous pieces re-creates the journey of a shuddering, juddering steam train, carrying the ‘caipira’ or ‘people of the countryside’ off to pick berries in the fields.

How does the music

make you feel when

you listen to it?

What sounds can you hear in the music that helps you to imagine the train moving?

What instruments did you see

being played by the orchestra?
