HOMEWORK - YEAR ONE

Hi Everyone,

Here are the homework activities for you for the coming weeks up to October half-term. Please choose at least 3 out of the 6 topic activities to complete. There are also several English and Maths activities to complete. As well as choosing activities to complete, daily reading is essential alongside learning your ORT words on the Kipper sheet or spellings. We will be revising Phase 2 and 3 phonics and introducing Phase 4 and 5. You will find games to support this teaching!

Take photos of your homework and email me at s14lparker@cheswick-green.solihull.sch.uk by the end of half-term.

  • Make a scrapbook with photos of the people in your family, including your parents and grandparents. Write sentences about the things you like doing with them.
  • Decorate cardboard cutouts of people to look like your family members. Use fabrics, sequins, wool and other materials to create clothing and features.

Can your family recognise themselves?

  • Ask your parents or grandparents if they have any photographs of themselves as babies. Can you tell it’s them? What differences do you notice in the clothing, furniture or hairstyles in the pictures?
  • Write down your birthday memories, including details and pictures of favourite presents or parties.
  • Ask a family member about what they do in their day. What time do they get up? What jobs do they need to do during the day? How does their day differ from yours? Create a timeline to show their daily routine.
  • Ask your parents and grandparents about what toys and games they played with when they were children. Draw pictures and write sentences to describe what you find out. Now draw and write about your favourite toys. Talk about the similarities and differences.
