Next week we will continue our transport theme with the story ‘Bumper to Bumper’ by Jakki Wood. It is also Science week and this year the theme is exploration and discovery. If your child has completed a science week project please send this in on Monday. For the challenge we ask that you talk about the importance of safety by the road with your child. A useful website for you to use with your child is:

http://think.direct.gov.uk/education/early-years-and-primary/pupils/under-5s/

The website contains games that your child can play with your support and guidance. The week will begin with the story ‘Bumper to Bumper’ and a discussion about what happened in the story. In the playground we will be practising how to safely go across a zebra crossing, as well as learning to recognise important road signs. Throughout the week the children will have a range of opportunities to build a vehicle with a friend using a range of construction materials.

For science week we will be learning about floating and sinking. The children will predict and test a range of materials in addition to having the opportunity to try and build a boat that floats. In Foundation 2 we will also be looking at the various ways sea animals pick up their food using a selection of practical tools like spoons, tongs and a fork. We will find out which one can pick up the biggest number of different shaped foods. We will let you know our findings!
