Zebras

A Zebra is a large animal. It is a rare type of animal.

Zebras are black animals with white stripes. There are three species of zebras.

Colour and coat:


A zebra's coat is a giant bar code.

They have narrower stripes with definitive black stripes slicing down the middle of their backs.

Zebra stripes can be different from one another. Mountain zebras have rugged grey coat.

Food :

Almost 90 % of their diet is made up of grass. They also eat leaves and twigs and some zebras eat herbs and shrubs, especially at times when grass is scarce. Zebras need a lot of water too. They 've been known to drink a gallon of water at one time!

Facts :

A group of zebras is called a 'Dazzle '.

Zebras can travel long distances.

Increasing human population has severely reduced the number of zebras. The world conservation union listed Grevy's zebras as endangered specie.
