How Sarah got a pet monkey!!!

One boiling morning,Sarah went with her mum to the zoo.

"This is so boring! Do we have to go?!"asked Sarah.

"Yes. It's education,"replied her mum.

So Sarah went with her mum to the zoo. She spent the whole day with her head looking at the floor until...the monkeys escaped from their cage! One hopped onto her shoulder.It looked at her. Sarah looked at the monkey. They both smiled a cheeky smile at each other.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking ?" asked Sarah.

"Ooh Ooh a a!"cried the monkey.

"I shall name you...? Melvin! Yes.It's the perfect name!" exlaimed Sarah.

So Sarah,Melvin and mum ran home.[While trying not to be seen by the zoo keepers.]

That night,when Sarah went to bed,Melvin hopped out from his bed[which Sarah's dad had made for him] and jumped into Sarah's bed. He snuggled into Sarah's elbow.

Sarah laughed and fell asleep. In the morning, Sarah taught Melvin how to

sit,lie on his back and front, jump on Sarah's head and open doors that are

a little bit ajar.In a week,Melvin knew how to do everything [except the

really tricky stuff.]so Sarah took him to the pet show. Sarah washed him,

brushed his fur and cleaned his teeth. Finally,it was time to go to the pet

show.There were hundreds of pets there.Sarah had to stop herself screaming with amazement. Melvin seemed to know what was happening because he put his arm around Sarah.

"I know. I know. I'm just as nervous as you," exclaimed Sarah "Do you think we'll win?"

"Ooh ooh a a!" cried Melvin as if answering.(*translation "Of course we will!")

Sarah's mum made it clear that she didn't approve of "Silly pet shows that aren't education,"

Mum said something about the importance of animals. Sarah wasn't listening. She found it fun just looking at the animals. Melvin seemed to be getting a bit fidgety so Sarah had to go outside to help him calm down.

"I'll have a look for number 15. Yes. They are late. Yes. Just like number 10, " cried one of the judges.

Sarah ran inside just in time for her go.( If she had been a second longer, she would have missed her go!) Now, I don't know what happened because I wasn't there. A friend told me all about it, so I'm just going to do my best. (I'm friends with Sarah's mum so she told me what happened at the beginning of the story.) Sarah managed to win the pet show by showing off Melvin' s tricks. It was a big fun competition and ended all happy and loud.Sarah almost fainted because she was so relived she won.

When she got home,it was well past her bedtime.( She goes to bed at 6 o'clock!) Her mum didn't like this at all and had something to say.

" I don't think you should be up this late,"

Then she realized Sarah had a sad face. She asked what was wrong. Sarah told her mum about going to bed the earliest. Then she remembered that it was a Sunday. She asked her mum what would happen to Melvin. Her mum said her friend Derek was going to look after him. ( That's me!!!) Sarah remembered that Derek was an expert at looking after animals. So the next day, Sarah went to to school and left Melvin with me. I was so excited for that moment. But when Sarah came home from school, Melvin jumped out of my hands and ran to Sarah.[ I was a bit sad but monkeys do tend to poo a lot! So this went on for a very long time. Then, one day this all stopped ! Disaster struck. They had to move house ! I didn't want them to move house. Sarah had to start a new school! Luckily, for Sarah, someone else was starting a new school. Her name was Flo. Sarah and Flo began chatting and soon became best friends. Flo visited Sarah regularly and became friends with Melvin as well. Melvin was actually a girl, and had a baby! Sarah decided that she would let
