The life of Sir

Walter Raleigh

Come and join me , as we go back 400 years to when a man called Sir Walter Raleigh roamed the planet. he was known for bringing tobacco and potatoes into England. Let's go back to the Tudor times!

He was born on the 22nd of January 1552 , Devon located in England. He was the son of a farmer and born into a wealthy family

Walter was a brother to eight siblings , two sisters which were named Margaret Raleigh and Elizabeth Gilbert. Six brothers called Humphrey Gilbert, Carew Raleigh, George Raleigh, John Raleigh, Adrien Gilbert and John Gilbert. Walter had a cousin called Sir Richard Grenville. Walter was a son to Walter Raleigh and Catherine Champernowne. He was named after his father , imagine being named after your father or mother. (weird)

Since Sir Walter Raleigh used to be an explorer , he did a lot of travelling to different countries Apart from exploring he was involved in a few wars , he sailed to serve in the Irish wars and in France he saw himself safely through two major battles. Sir Walter Raleigh also liked to sail a lot so that meant that he earned a lot of money in shipping ventures.

Later in his life he married a lady named Elizabeth Raleigh. The couple lived happily until one day Sir Walter Raleigh was executed in London 1618 aged 65. In the Tudor times when a husband died then the wife would also be killed.

He will be remembered by using his cloak to let Elizabeth 1st walk across a puddle.
