Coventry Cathedral

On Wednesday 13th November, Year 6 went on a school trip to Coventry Cathedral. While we were there,we had to talk to people who had been around during the bombing in Coventry. At the end,we wrote a report for Winston Churchill (the priminister during the war).We travelled around the cathedral and went to lots of different places including a house that survived the bombing and an

Anderson Shelter. We learnt lots of facts about what it was like during the war,and we all enjoyed it.

Evacuation

During the war, people were evacuated.Evacuation is when you are sent to another place to avoid the war.You are put with another family that you have never met before. They often travel by train or by ship and can go to places as far away as Australia.

Rationing

People were rationed on food and clothes during the war. They were given ration books and would get a certain amount of food each week. The ration books were different colours for different ages.

ANDERSON SHELTERS

Anderson shelters are what people stayed in when there was bombs around. They would have them in their gardens. They were supposed to protect people from bombs. There were lots of things in there to put out fires. There were also some songs that they sang in there for entertainment. We have a parent share coming up to make our own Anderson Shelter.
