Ashmount Primary recently took on Charterhouse School in a couple of friendlies with pleasing results. Two teams travelled down to Whittington Park to take on the school based in the city.

First up was the B team, which contained a mixture of Year 5 and 6 players. Taking a few minutes to get into their stride they went a goal down early on, but soon equalised when Harry’s cross was converted by Abdellah.

The second half was very tight with both sides looking for a winner, as Kayvon and Harry led the charge however Charterhouse also contained some good attacking players but excellent defending from Laurent, Bobby and their teammates ensured the game finished 1-1, which on the balance of play was a fair result.

Squad: - Patrick, Sid, Bobby, James, Ishmail, Ismail, Laurent, Kayvon, Harry, Abdellah and Beta.

The A team which was also a mix of year 5 & 6 players fared better when winning 5-0. The boys were quick out of the blocks and laid siege on the Charterhouse goal, but were denied by some fine goalkeeping.

The pressure did not stop though as we had Charterhouse on the back foot and eventually took the lead through Stephane. The pattern did not change, which led one of the surprised opposing players say to his team mates ‘I thought they weren’t supposed to be any good!’

The second half saw Jordan come off the bench and make an immediate impact when scoring. Two own goals and one from Cory sealed a 5-0 win. A very impressive performance from all involved, with a mixture of scintillating forward play, individual brilliance and good organisational skills on show.

Squad: - Patrick, Sid, Djamal-eddine, Archie, Cameron, Han, Stephane, Cory, Jordan, Louis and Amir.
