How Viking long ships were made

A Viking sail was square and made

of woven wool and animal far. It was

strengthened by using tar. The people that

made the sails were mostly wives, children

and servant girls.The colour of the

sail was usually red and white. The red colouring

cam from blood. On the bottom of Viking ships there

was a keel which was made to skim through

the water quickly.

On the ship there were shields on both sides to prevent enemy attachs, such as arrows. The shields were a round shape and were coloured in yellow and blue. They were quiet big so the cold cover the majority of the warriors body.

How to threaten your enemy.

The Viking longships were made with a dragon

or serpent figure on the front of the boats. These

were carefully crafted and extrememly detailed.

The purpose for being on the front of the ship was

to scare off the enemy as well as leading the way to

whichever destination.

*There was a small deck on the ship for stares but no space for cabins.
