Hi Everyone,
Our new topic this half-term is Dinosaur Planet. Here are the homework activities for you for this half term. Please choose at least 3 out of the 6 topic activities to complete. There are also English and Maths tasks which will support your child with their school work and learning. Please continue to read daily with your child and help them learn their spellings. We will be working on Phase 3, 4 and 5 phonics depending on your child's level.

TOPIC ACTIVITIES

PLEASE TURN OVER

Click on the link and listen to the story. Write the story of 'Harry and
the Bucketful of Dinosaurs' in your own words. Remember to use a 
capital letter to start your sentences and a full stop to finish. Re-read
your work as you progress to check it makes sense. 

Choose your favourite dinosaur. Research some interesting facts about it and make a poster to tell me what you have found out. Make it bright and attractive.

Create a dinosaur mask or make a 3D model of a dinosaur out of reclaimed materials. Take a photograph.

Write some dinosaur jokes. Share them with your friends.

Research an endangered animal. Write some facts and draw a picture to share why your chosen animal needs to be protected.

Create a sockasaurus. Use an old sock to design a dinosaur adding materials and accessories.

MATHS ACTIVITIES

Listed below you will find suggested activities designed to help your child with their Maths learning in school over the next half-term. Remember to make it practical, fun and relate it to everyday life. 

Practise writing you numbers 0 to 100 using the correct formation. All the numbers start at the top when writing them.
Count to 100. Can you count confidently backwards from 30 to 0?
Ask your Mum or Dad to say a number within 100 and can you count forwards from that number, then backwards from that number. Try with a different number.
Can you count in 2's to 50 and 10's to 100? Can you count backwards in 10's from 100? Can you count in 10's from 19,32, 46, 73? What do you notice?
Choose a number within 50 and say what is 1 more and 1 less than that number. Can you do 2 more than the chosen number? Challenge with higher numbers and say what is 10/20 more and 10/20 less. 
Recite the days of the week in order? Write the days of the week in order. What is the date today / tomorrow / yesterday?  Can you recite the months of the year? Can you write them correctly?				                                
Play BBC Bitesize Games (Maths Key Stage 1) 'Karate Cats'  and work on a topic of your choice. Choose your level  Bronze, Silver  or Gold.  
Revise the name of the 2D and 3D shapes. Talk about their properties. What shapes can you spot in the environment.
Rehearse your number bonds to 10. Write down the pairs of numbers that make 10. How many different ways did you find?  Can you find out the number bonds to 20? Can you see a pattern?
Learn to tell the time o'clock and half past times. Make a clock and play with it. Ask questions: What is one hour earlier than 5 o'clock? What is one hour later than 7 o'clock? Learn to read digital times for o'clock and half-past - 2:00 and 3:30.
Double numbers to 10. Write the calculations in a number sentence. Eg. 5+5=10
Weigh ingredients with your child and talk about the language of weight. 
Play Doodle Maths for 10 minutes 5 times a week.
