On Friday we played a game as part of microsociety, we were put into 6 groups. We each got a package of resources to make 10cm circles (10 points) and squares (5 points). Each counter is worth 10 points. The twist of this game was no one had the same things. My group, A, was the richest.

What is the difference between 1st and 3rd world countries. Here are two countries and main cities in them, South Africa, Cape Town and England, London. England is 1st world and S.A. is 3rd world but why? E.g. the transport is better and more efficient in London, where in Cape Town it's not. In another part of S.A. outside the airport are little shacks made out of wood and metal; some people even illegally steal electricity!!! People scrummage for food in bins. We are a very lucky country.

In class we read a story of 'JUSTENUF' where one society

has everything they need and then they run out of food and all start fighting! The captain of the ship should have shared the food out equally between everyone on board!

In class we came up with a name and flag for our society, ours is - Peakzania and our flag is a bit like this -

Scarcity - scarcity is when one society has more than another society. E.g. - Gambia (an African country) hasn't got enough food, we can produce food or transport it in.
