GALILEO GALILEI

Galileo Galilei was born in 1564 in Pisa, Italy. He studied speed, velocity, gravity and free fall. He became an astronomer, a physicist and a mathematcian. He observed that the moon is covered with crators and mountains and was not smooth as the Church used to believe. He also observed that the sun rotates and has dark areas. He believed that the Earth was not at the centre of the Solar System but the Sun was. He brought a lot of controversy and he was sent to prison for nine years. Today he is viewed as the Father of Modern Science.
